New Sites have been released for everyone. This release is intended to allow people to try out the features and see how they work. Users are encouraged to send feedback to Google about their experiences. The platform is still a work in progress and is not meant to be a replacement for classic sites yet. Google has released it so that users can see and get used to the features that have been developed so far. Personally I think Google should have made that clear in the statements below.
The most used features from classic Sites will be incorporated gradually, while not ALL the features will be re-introduced Google is constantly monitoring the feedback and prioritizing heavily used and top requested features. Please make sure you send feedback to Google to make your feature requests and bug reports.
In 2017, we’ll provide and recommend options to migrate your sites from the classic Sites to the new Sites.
Beginning in 2018, we’ll send a timeline and instructions regarding the gradual process to shut down the classic Sites. The specific date for the shutdown of the classic Sites has yet to be set, but we’ll inform you at least one year in advance of that shutdown.
